Join me as I make loads of mess & lots of beautiful things!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comBlogger110125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8240228590596034913.post-91983383142581644852013-01-08T08:00:00.000+10:002013-01-08T08:00:00.421+10:00My new Craft Space!Today I'd love to share with you all my new craft space! <br />As some of you know I disappeared from the blogging world last year as I was running an online store, and there's only so many hours in a day. This year, things are getting back to a little more normal hours - I'm still working outside the home, which means it's even more important for me to have my little space where I can create to soothe my soul.<br />
Without further ado... the big unveil! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhARYMfKciRwyMESyBB-TVC4wLN9gJltLih8NRuTKUHfN5olqLnli5p9dO56Y83JKhysohRCXGIv6i23TGqjSwkkhn9S_IcPBsiDOvhk6kAI31gbZjWMzTN4KKJ8rhPhBZZr4srs7sV-cU/s1600/photo+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhARYMfKciRwyMESyBB-TVC4wLN9gJltLih8NRuTKUHfN5olqLnli5p9dO56Y83JKhysohRCXGIv6i23TGqjSwkkhn9S_IcPBsiDOvhk6kAI31gbZjWMzTN4KKJ8rhPhBZZr4srs7sV-cU/s1600/photo+4.JPG" height="240" width="320" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
All my goodies are within easy reach, and organised like nobody's business! Which is a tad ironic, as i'm a little on the more "creatively organised" side in real life hehe... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thats one of my two daughters cute little feet poking in on the side of the photo, and my little Rizzo baby hiding under my desk :) (or, his desk, as he likes to think of it). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQIMvLBBrWkHhYIQjVFDtD2bfoW42xdustzgfFuKLbFcSWDx0_-1pLu0K92rJ7r6du98u2A77VEQLmYhjOYkU1vWkjFE0wMWSqSc-UoCbFXD88MRcqOhYXA0BSp4Dv1xqvDX3zz7CVBfI/s1600/photo+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQIMvLBBrWkHhYIQjVFDtD2bfoW42xdustzgfFuKLbFcSWDx0_-1pLu0K92rJ7r6du98u2A77VEQLmYhjOYkU1vWkjFE0wMWSqSc-UoCbFXD88MRcqOhYXA0BSp4Dv1xqvDX3zz7CVBfI/s1600/photo+5.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
On the wall beside the paper rack is this wall hanging - Michele and I created it to use as a display piece for the craft fair,to showcase the different Tim Holtz colours. We diecut the dress form and cotton spool from grungeboard, and then crackle painted them using Tim's Black Soot and Antique Linen crackle paint. Each block features a single colour, applied onto white cardstock. The coordinating stain was used to dye some of the fancy trimmings to the correct shade, as well as a strip of muslin. This makes it a gorgeous way to colour match to my distress inks, and also illustrates the depth of intensity that the stains provide on different fabrics. <br />
The background is made by mod podging a few good strips of Tim's tissue wrap, allowing for a slightly scrunched finish. <br />I love how colourful it is, and it makes me use my inks a LOT more than I did before!<br />
(The colours on the last three are from the seasonal collections, which don't have matching stains).<br />
What do you think of my little space?<br />
Is there any elements you'd like a closer look at?<br />

</div>
I've had this sweet little set of dies hiding in the back of my stash for a little while now, and honestly don't know why I took so long to play with it! <br />It's the Spellbinders "Floral Burst" Cut Fold Tuck die, which consists of three separate dies, each with ornate cuts throughout. <br />
I used a piece of single side printed paper, as I wanted the contrast of the white on the pattern when i folded. I forgot to take a photo of the largest layer (bad blogger!), but here are the two smaller layers...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVCvcJZP8ui8_BaNrMd9MkAWsb4xSnWYZFcNatFiVpzjImhK-YYTZ887o1HcZYH0NWTqCVh0EMABvp3PpR7TOGOahCTvVRSGF3I6JQ6Fe4PTtAteMPJC0xCZ82Af1mFhxTLOwt0kjGkSU/s1600/photo+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVCvcJZP8ui8_BaNrMd9MkAWsb4xSnWYZFcNatFiVpzjImhK-YYTZ887o1HcZYH0NWTqCVh0EMABvp3PpR7TOGOahCTvVRSGF3I6JQ6Fe4PTtAteMPJC0xCZ82Af1mFhxTLOwt0kjGkSU/s1600/photo+4.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoRTkjrE3hSG5pkQ029PI7rJhQwir5lYlAkLg4Ubtp4pd__QSKe2y2Qj1woafn_ena_OpvQWjZ36BfPPNAwZIj572skzDJMqVlosXPqFawHick8jwZZzvCIh0RPiUpdeBfdIkSlBBt0nc/s1600/photo+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoRTkjrE3hSG5pkQ029PI7rJhQwir5lYlAkLg4Ubtp4pd__QSKe2y2Qj1woafn_ena_OpvQWjZ36BfPPNAwZIj572skzDJMqVlosXPqFawHick8jwZZzvCIh0RPiUpdeBfdIkSlBBt0nc/s1600/photo+5.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
They were a bit fiddly to remove from the die itself, but a craft pick or a sewing pin can assist there. <br />
Simply take the boomerang-ish shaped pieces and fold them back against the paper, and then tuck it under the "tongue" left by the raising of the one previous. <br />
If that isn't' confusing to explain, I'm not sure what is! :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3-XDy2LVgAobmaZ4LPhVqMj3jnBNcHrlu3fp0w9a5GE9Mh6uXFwcn8nGcIFiLAbWfxKmM8MJM_XepGtSU0PyP7TQRqyJs03BK-fLkntZvNQXSite1ia4fHgc5uDkK3sFbM6zEhnWbtLA/s1600/photo+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3-XDy2LVgAobmaZ4LPhVqMj3jnBNcHrlu3fp0w9a5GE9Mh6uXFwcn8nGcIFiLAbWfxKmM8MJM_XepGtSU0PyP7TQRqyJs03BK-fLkntZvNQXSite1ia4fHgc5uDkK3sFbM6zEhnWbtLA/s1600/photo+1.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
So this is all three layers tacked together. Pretty hey! And seriously took me about 7 minutes from start to finish... And because I *HAD* to use it right away, I used it to make a quick card. For this card I used cream puff Bazzill cardstock. The patterned paper is "Junk" from the Kaisercraft Miss Match collection, which I edged using Vintage Photo Distress Ink.<br />
I used a "Thinking of you" Stamp from a Stamp it collection which I absolutely adore! :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEierux-cBylPQ1ygWkjAV2srSgK0KWDAatOaaqvTvJjQmsXtpxDN8Uk0cnmMjgtKOy01GHQxKzdEHHd-vr589asK9KaaUB_BMZirWr2XJ_J3_tGeZT8DNC4xmUs2iCZJSITzGK5HBjXh18/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEierux-cBylPQ1ygWkjAV2srSgK0KWDAatOaaqvTvJjQmsXtpxDN8Uk0cnmMjgtKOy01GHQxKzdEHHd-vr589asK9KaaUB_BMZirWr2XJ_J3_tGeZT8DNC4xmUs2iCZJSITzGK5HBjXh18/s1600/photo+2.JPG" height="320" width="240" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And to top it all off, I finished it with a small Kaisercraft Sparklet. Just beautiful! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

P.S. I love to get comments from you all, however due to the volume of spam comments that I have to deal with each day, I haven't got too much choice other than to turn on the "log in to comment" doover. I hope you all don't mind, and still pop a comment in from me from time to time!<br />

I'm a notorious last minute card maker, and often am dressed and ready to go to a kids party, and realise just as I'm hurtling out the door that I've forgotten to make a card... oops! These little guys took next to no time to create, and are fun and bright enough to keep any little girl happy! Best of all, these cards were made using scraps I had lying around :)<br />
Cute and thrifty - what's not to love!<br />

It's had more ups and downs than the average rollercoaster, yet here we are... only a couple of days out from Christmas, and ready to get cracking into 2013.<br />
Time to give my poor neglected blog a bit more attention in 2013 I think!<br />
I haven't had an entirely unproductive year though, I've gone back to full time work, and am juggling the challenge of working, parenting (my big girl is in grade 1 next year, and my baby is in pre-prep (kindergarten)... time flies!) and somehow squeezing in a bit of scrappy time as well... <br />
Hopefully what we'll see in 2013 is a bit of exploration in creativity, with loads of quick cute projects - I've got my craftroom happening again, so i have no excuses!<br />
I hope I'll see you around here in the coming months, thanks for still checking out my blog while I've been gallivanting around :)<br />
Much Love to you all<br />

Long time no see! <br />I have been flat out working over on the online store (at <a href="http://www.scrapbookshenanigans.com/">www.scrapbookshenanigans.com</a>) but have been feeling a little bit sad that I'd stopped sharing my makings with you guys too! <br />Life at the moment, well, with my big girl being off to Prep now, and miss 2 1/2 all of a sudden deciding that she's "grown up" has been hectic to say the least! I haven't had nearly as much time as I'd like to spend creating stuff, but I did make a wedding cake this week (with the help of my sister!)<br />
A family friend was getting married, and she wanted her wedding cake to be gluten free - no cake decorater in the area was able to do that. So me and my big mouth stepped in...<br />
It wasn't too bad though, we made a gluten free fruit cake, iced it in a layer of rum buttercream (seriously to die for!), and then topped it with a layer of satin ice - a new variety of fondant that tastes incredible, and is so easy to work with!<br />
This is how it turned out!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Hi everyone! I'm so incredibly sorry that I've been a bad blogger and totally neglected my blog for so long!<br />
Though... I feel I do have somewhat of an excuse! <br />
I've returned to the workforce, in the best possible way -doing something that I love!<br />
You see, I've been a very busy little girl, learning loads, and creating<br />
<a href="http://www.scrapbookshenanigans.com/">www.scrapbookshenanigans.com </a><br />
A brand new, online scrapbooking store with all the latest and greatest products (and lots of old favourites too!), all at great prices. <br />I'm getting started on doing a blog for the store as well, where I hope to continue on where I left off this year, with lots of fun projects and ideas to share. <br />
If you'd like to join me over at the new blog, follow http://scrapbookshenanigans.blogspot.com! Or if you're in Australia and are keen for a spot of shopping, pop onto www.scrapbookshenanigans.com and keep me in a job! :) <br />
We haven't activated overseas shipping at this point, because we have literally just gotten started - though if you're overseas and see something you MUST have, just send me an email at scrapbookshenanigans@gmail.com and i'll be in touch to work something out :) <br />
Thanks for staying with me through my extended break, but I am back now, and <strike>busier</strike> better than ever! :)<br />
<br />

Ok... Here goes attempt 2 at this post. I wrote this all up and scheduled it to post on Friday, and blogger kindly at it on me. Needless to say, I was a little bit grumpy with it, so I have left it until now :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Let's hope it posts better this time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Little rosettes are a huge trend at the moment, but are so simple, quick and cheap to make yourself, that it seems a bit wasteful to spend your hard earned craft cash on premade ones that don't *quite* match your project. Here's a little tutorial on how to make your own rosettes with some leftovers from your stash! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdnNprYfsCqy57QKtKm03cMCq9zKGVoHre2_GYAjIbGBaQavh4bh9-V6WO7Txr3MVx0ukqUApHKXvfvo9xQa68PXTqaHQsSn4J1IFBLw7evfs47EtVjZOfh3UxPAhyphenhyphen_ZBIOygz6gHNMH4/s320/IMG_3260.JPG" width="320" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First of all, cut a 1 1/2 inch wide strip of your desired colour, and score at 1/4 inch intervals. If you're making multiple rosettes, score the whole page first, and then cut into 1 1/2 inch strips. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
If you desire, use a border punch to punch the edge of your page. Completely optional, and if you don't have a border punch, you can always dig out those fancy edging scissors that were all the rage a few years back.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Concertina fold your strip...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxNc7Ouq0sd9HifIk5MuQYiavj7og0Ti7DEnqeqIeJg3rd2nFYpdyCzqWaOZ8k5f01k_uLcjK23OysoudPrXVHmpnlG-IG250LZ6X11C4cd8P54AWFmezie4LjEqpvXghMSNE22AhE8SQ/s1600/IMG_3268.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxNc7Ouq0sd9HifIk5MuQYiavj7og0Ti7DEnqeqIeJg3rd2nFYpdyCzqWaOZ8k5f01k_uLcjK23OysoudPrXVHmpnlG-IG250LZ6X11C4cd8P54AWFmezie4LjEqpvXghMSNE22AhE8SQ/s320/IMG_3268.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then glue the ends together to make a circle. I like to use Helmar Professional Acid Free glue - it's nice to work with, and is quite quick drying, which is important when you're impatient like me :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgB8_wwGd9mFAdOvF5WUO4WcPcJ53iVFTy0Vr61GM8rhfAvuLTioc1DcpUAs0YSc_flZi00gGA5kG5dxbH2oa6971MZif0CkvTjDEYIdwqLPNa7x2bHgwr-I7VaXc2FXk6rcE8GFR3NFYI/s1600/IMG_3269.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgB8_wwGd9mFAdOvF5WUO4WcPcJ53iVFTy0Vr61GM8rhfAvuLTioc1DcpUAs0YSc_flZi00gGA5kG5dxbH2oa6971MZif0CkvTjDEYIdwqLPNa7x2bHgwr-I7VaXc2FXk6rcE8GFR3NFYI/s320/IMG_3269.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Punch 2 circles from some co-ordinating paper (or the same, if you like!). You can use a button or whatever you fancy here, but it's easiest to use a paper circle for the back one, at least. Smear them with glue... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLdgPSKAdeBhZ72lHJd52rizvTOCC3iVQxhASM45tJRyoJq0Rjh8HU6uv4c-d7M4Up4Ey6MKUk_aVgqrAvWzOxrHOLquvBl-tSrJe-kGKdbqw9chM8rVy-Z7f4R9-K3uCfTXItKJs2l0k/s1600/IMG_3270.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLdgPSKAdeBhZ72lHJd52rizvTOCC3iVQxhASM45tJRyoJq0Rjh8HU6uv4c-d7M4Up4Ey6MKUk_aVgqrAvWzOxrHOLquvBl-tSrJe-kGKdbqw9chM8rVy-Z7f4R9-K3uCfTXItKJs2l0k/s320/IMG_3270.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then line up your circle, and gather the straight edge into the centre. Pop it over a gluey dot, and press down firmly for a few seconds to let the glue grab. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk7PEownJ9_QNHsJ_C0zMsJ1iZYh0rtfTimXFVhLM8Bx0ka39OP_ocrUqn3qzFMtSIkgvNXMjcPpmcpzqx59IYNHRixcKjT4N05f0Wo0e52_m_JrNmx6xkvaxc1-aWP01dB1ZlCxKS1D4/s1600/IMG_3271.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk7PEownJ9_QNHsJ_C0zMsJ1iZYh0rtfTimXFVhLM8Bx0ka39OP_ocrUqn3qzFMtSIkgvNXMjcPpmcpzqx59IYNHRixcKjT4N05f0Wo0e52_m_JrNmx6xkvaxc1-aWP01dB1ZlCxKS1D4/s320/IMG_3271.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Slip the other gluey dot onto the top of the rosette, hold for a few seconds and then you're done! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwgjxqATdeVXxiIv537_08C176MCxx42kiD3Svi9Lq2OtkU28wdn4hAfIBJoOM3wciRTVjU4JGUUEXpBy6JbQIIl_qXvzBxAY2yE3uxBNO7ldeDSbtgy48MFj3eWgXJnStCGhBS8psLNs/s1600/IMG_3279a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwgjxqATdeVXxiIv537_08C176MCxx42kiD3Svi9Lq2OtkU28wdn4hAfIBJoOM3wciRTVjU4JGUUEXpBy6JbQIIl_qXvzBxAY2yE3uxBNO7ldeDSbtgy48MFj3eWgXJnStCGhBS8psLNs/s320/IMG_3279a.jpg" width="273" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Don't mind the blurry photo here, but I decided to glue the rosettes to a stick, to make a fun bouquet for the local show display. They alos look great strung up on twine, fishing line or ribbon, as well as just used on a page or card as a cute little embellishment. When they're finished, the rosettes are about 3" across, so you can adjust the size down as you like. If you'd like to make them bigger, you'll need to use 2 strips of paper, joined together after you concertina the strips. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now... lets hope blogger doesn't eat this post, or I might well give up in disgust! </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hope you had a great weekend! </div>

Sorry about the lack of posts lately, but between my 2 year old hitting the terrible twos, and my now 4 year old hitting the terrible twos (x 2), and blogger having a little hissy fit, I haven't had much success in finding time to post :)<br />
Naughty blogger I am hey!<br />
Today's project is a little mini album which I created using the new "Little Toot" papers from Kaisercraft. It's a gorgeous earthy toned collection, with motifs to suit little boys and their toys! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFvmZsSRstp4VnttaZj25NdTwIk4eBIryH3zUgZ4hoOSpzO6r06JYhdVtKua7dlnaIS8WPTDc38-siUN_NDQMZDeRSCPDF8g5HNQtYjWyuZ5BI8tymzgo6VjDV6IJrF-xlIKhq7y6Q2ww/s1600/IMG_3246.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFvmZsSRstp4VnttaZj25NdTwIk4eBIryH3zUgZ4hoOSpzO6r06JYhdVtKua7dlnaIS8WPTDc38-siUN_NDQMZDeRSCPDF8g5HNQtYjWyuZ5BI8tymzgo6VjDV6IJrF-xlIKhq7y6Q2ww/s320/IMG_3246.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I used a Kaisercraft scalloped album, which I painted brown to start with, and then covered with paper from the 6 1/2" paper pad. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9GB5G6-kT6CEYdtwC8szurxW5Ka4DqKgOTcmqVkX1r9iHpEoHeWCcYziVxMBUOEFSthYxfDig7AEi-GBdTD4Re6mWEThcFxhHdx1YEFrXVl75EZyeVBXG5Wsn2I9rM7T-pmSX-rot6_I/s1600/IMG_3247.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9GB5G6-kT6CEYdtwC8szurxW5Ka4DqKgOTcmqVkX1r9iHpEoHeWCcYziVxMBUOEFSthYxfDig7AEi-GBdTD4Re6mWEThcFxhHdx1YEFrXVl75EZyeVBXG5Wsn2I9rM7T-pmSX-rot6_I/s320/IMG_3247.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I then used little bits and pieces from the paper pad, journal tabs and printed chipboard shapes to decorate the inner pages, with lots of pictures of my gorgeous nephews at play. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxvu8GzbiyPjEaR0CtrJz0Ei7fHMeYJx_POe4p467x1ISKOpr-QQJU1Mncqhz4XZ5vfRFeqdVTedZ3GZB6Lqwd1U6h4YMopkbpiCZ8kpk_2syxlV3jUeC8qwTk_c-e2LyiHjK5GMYjJHc/s1600/IMG_3248.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxvu8GzbiyPjEaR0CtrJz0Ei7fHMeYJx_POe4p467x1ISKOpr-QQJU1Mncqhz4XZ5vfRFeqdVTedZ3GZB6Lqwd1U6h4YMopkbpiCZ8kpk_2syxlV3jUeC8qwTk_c-e2LyiHjK5GMYjJHc/s320/IMG_3248.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Quick, simple, and believe it or not, it was completely finished in 1 1/2 evenings. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8240228590596034913.post-75886107124653552022011-06-19T23:48:00.000+10:002011-06-19T23:48:17.922+10:00Rick Rack Roses TutorialI saw these little guys on pinterest, and HAD to rush out and buy some rickrack to try this!!! They are just so adorable!<br />
For each rose you'll need around 12" of rickrack, but it's easier to make a bulk lot of them. I bought 2 metres of each colour, cut them in half and sat down in front of the telly to weave them together. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5KWeeFtvwSQNe16TF1G8aeLkd7Djr1DAQ3ofRndwaY-FQhCZex2kfJGxBKK9kXvrUIWD_fQs0o-QF_KDJWapkYvlwzZhN7j9WnCAmBv_iHFhQYbVDfoWzskezIO1UoNZAe179uwqv1cg/s1600/IMG_3215.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5KWeeFtvwSQNe16TF1G8aeLkd7Djr1DAQ3ofRndwaY-FQhCZex2kfJGxBKK9kXvrUIWD_fQs0o-QF_KDJWapkYvlwzZhN7j9WnCAmBv_iHFhQYbVDfoWzskezIO1UoNZAe179uwqv1cg/s320/IMG_3215.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I ran the smaller two colours through the sewing machine (more to one side) to lock the two strands together, but I forgot to on the jumbo rick rack, and it held up fine. (I sewed in pink so you can see it easier!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOnr9N9agQuAtX9fFRlo5rgt7oeZltzSJrUUynjx_6J_8q_6FNGuIRg7fAF8dLZ1FcoLDAfhWQpNq4EilhSWz65LA59Z673YXelXsJQNLJixiPxp6F0cLH_Byf9M3sIN27b4mOEld7WUg/s1600/IMG_3216.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOnr9N9agQuAtX9fFRlo5rgt7oeZltzSJrUUynjx_6J_8q_6FNGuIRg7fAF8dLZ1FcoLDAfhWQpNq4EilhSWz65LA59Z673YXelXsJQNLJixiPxp6F0cLH_Byf9M3sIN27b4mOEld7WUg/s320/IMG_3216.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I think it would add strength for if you want to put the roses on clothing or a handbag etc, but for decor or papercrafts, leaving out the stitching bit should be fine. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQArACZErvkXWlc-XX-C399vea1_53VXecmWGAXtYwLIgxEoytZV31mwQawvB7UQ-Dsci0ZkUgipZzn18poRl4n9c08-ZYj-qtwuqrDxra5SNfc2pR97F4EcerVL68LgXB7ZbTxBY7VGE/s1600/IMG_3218.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQArACZErvkXWlc-XX-C399vea1_53VXecmWGAXtYwLIgxEoytZV31mwQawvB7UQ-Dsci0ZkUgipZzn18poRl4n9c08-ZYj-qtwuqrDxra5SNfc2pR97F4EcerVL68LgXB7ZbTxBY7VGE/s320/IMG_3218.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Then it's as simple as pinching one end, and rolling it up! It will form into a bud, and then as you keep going, adding a dot of hot glue here and there, you'll end up with what almost looks like an artichoke... <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBkhyphenhyphenec7UoseUGaRndFSgu4S6o2mFpgvNig8Vxc8cVXaQfoRU3tmDzgKEUFpLRdjhLSSV-vrjyLZ6Dz2aDxKQwH45hhZy28SdZc3diKQ8Jwtxdb_EM1wK5NPVZTfvBJA2C_qRXajfoZbk/s1600/IMG_3219.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBkhyphenhyphenec7UoseUGaRndFSgu4S6o2mFpgvNig8Vxc8cVXaQfoRU3tmDzgKEUFpLRdjhLSSV-vrjyLZ6Dz2aDxKQwH45hhZy28SdZc3diKQ8Jwtxdb_EM1wK5NPVZTfvBJA2C_qRXajfoZbk/s320/IMG_3219.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
When your rose is as big as you'd like it to be, cut the tails off the rickrack, and glue the end underneath the flower.<br />

Just gorgeous!!!<br />
Now, go try make this, it's easy, I promise!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLpyqhb4m-uMB_9Am2gOq4DKuPgQO2QbOmbgVbGbufmpZ8Nf8WXhTLjQm3HF8A8rawjXcyREOrYGTLV4_6VwpitBDMg_sJvwfMZeN_RI5AO1uEEHdC0aphJ5H4WObR3uus4B1x_1KgVL8/s1600/IMG_3212.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLpyqhb4m-uMB_9Am2gOq4DKuPgQO2QbOmbgVbGbufmpZ8Nf8WXhTLjQm3HF8A8rawjXcyREOrYGTLV4_6VwpitBDMg_sJvwfMZeN_RI5AO1uEEHdC0aphJ5H4WObR3uus4B1x_1KgVL8/s320/IMG_3212.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
For an indicator of size, the biggest rose was made with jumbo rickrack (20mm wide), the cream was just the standard rickrack, (12mm), and the little red one was with baby rick rack (8mm). I think the larger ones are a lot easier to work with, but the tiny stuff makes for super sweet little rosebuds :)<br />
Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!<br />
<i style="color: magenta;">x Rita</i>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8240228590596034913.post-22804784078036864172011-06-16T23:49:00.000+10:002011-06-16T23:49:49.280+10:00Little Monsters for your handbag!I stumbled across this idea on a picture gallery online - and I loved it so much I just had to recreate it. I wish I could remember where it came from so I could give due credit, but I can't. If anyone knows where it came from, please let me know so I can add the link here!<br />
This little guy is a felt pouch for storing tampons in your handbag. <br />
He makes me smile :) So I hope he makes you smile too. <br />
He's made from a rectangle of felt with two circles sewn on, folded unevenly to make a pouch, and then blanket stitched along the edges. I used two blue cabochons as eyes, cos they looked cheeky :) (excuse the dodgy iphone photo!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

He holds 6 tampons, and when you're not giggling at his fangs, you can pop them back inside to hold them securely in your bag or pocket. :)<br />
Cute hey!<br />

To bring the whole scene back to the business of the store, we needed a layout. Conveniently, we've just had a birthday in the family, so the doodlebug designs papers really lent themselves to my birthday photos of Stephie blowing out her candles. <br />
The layout is framed in a Lulu's frame. (Aren't they a gorgeous way to display your favourite layouts?) <br />
Now... onto my next big project... catching up on my project life! :)<br />
<br />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8240228590596034913.post-50537435896932976942011-06-14T09:07:00.001+10:002011-06-14T09:08:10.188+10:00Look at my underwear!Hehe... well, not really. Technically, yes, it's mine, but I bought it specifically to "bling up" for a competition that's running in Townsville at the moment. There's a production coming up, titled "Breast Wishes", and as part of the promotion, there is a competition to "bling your bra!". At the end of the competition, the bras will be auctioned off to raise money for the Breast Councer Foundation. <br />
This bra is my entry :)<br />

Approximately 2000 rhinestones have been applied by hand to this (I don't have a heat setter, so I went the old fashioned way, using helmar gemstone glue, and flatback rhinestones).<br />

In the pale pink is the breast cancer foundation ribbon on one cup, and on the other cup is the word "hope". I'm planning on using some alcohol inks to colour the pale pink rhinestones a little bit darker, but that'll depend on the test run that I've got planned.<br />
I'm really happy with how it's turned out, so blingy, sparkly (and hard to photograph! hehe... I suppose that's what you get when you go nuts with a giant stack of rhinestones!).<br />

Hope you're having a fabulous week!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8240228590596034913.post-55627160063926330072011-06-13T00:02:00.000+10:002011-06-13T00:02:42.737+10:00My big project!First of all, please forgive the dodgy iphone photos. I intend on going back with my good camera and taking some decent shots of all of this next week :) <br />
My friend Michele, who owns Scrapbook Shenanigans in Townsville, asked me if I'd be interested in dressing her windows. I jumped at the challenge, and immediately decided that I wanted to do a sweet shop/tea party theme. <br />
So, over the last few weeks, I've spent my nights creating a teapot, teacups and an array of goodies for my little tea party... without further ado, here's some photos! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Lots and lots of lollies! These were made using a little circle of paper, covering them with tape, and then coiling some colourful twinery twine around and around and around and around.... and then wrapping the lot in cellophane!<br />

Here they are in their cute little jar. I added some pearls to this before it went into the window. In the background you can see some itty bitty little strawberries that I made as well :)<br />

The cake stands, before adding the patterned paper skirts, and decorating the cakes. These were made by threading polystyrene balls onto a skewer, which I glued onto a little base, and topped with an old ribbon reel. I added paper trims to hide the ugly bits later on though. Aren't the colours fun though! (and isn't my desk a disgrace!)<br />

I made a stack of rosettes to hang from the undersides of the shelves. They looked so pretty on my desk I wanted to keep them there! :)<br />

I saw a picture of them, fell in love, and madly googled for a tutorial, but to no avail...<br />
(and if you're a first time visitor here, welcome! If you like what you see here, become a follower, and keep updated with all the little things I make!)<br />
First of all, for this project, you'll need 12 doilies of the same size. I used small ones for this project, just the cheapie paper ones are perfect. If you like, you can dye your doilies using a concentrated dip of food colouring and water, and then leave them to dry completely before starting.<br />
If, like me, you're impatient, you can decide that you love the look of white ones, and get cracking! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE1Rgt7YqW_EoS4Qir0gHQuxdubmfNkNHYs1ExLBH0MaaylfK44tWa5dYvcWl-eizI_RoIZrV8xN8fHqiGtuUw5zGnhlZV7PesLwgTYxYutYaCUCsJIpp2lzG0p1sYtEYBUXGkDM1DrX8/s1600/IMG_3152.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE1Rgt7YqW_EoS4Qir0gHQuxdubmfNkNHYs1ExLBH0MaaylfK44tWa5dYvcWl-eizI_RoIZrV8xN8fHqiGtuUw5zGnhlZV7PesLwgTYxYutYaCUCsJIpp2lzG0p1sYtEYBUXGkDM1DrX8/s320/IMG_3152.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Take 6 of your paper doilies, and pin them together in the centre using a brad (paper fastener). Now gently cup the first layer of doily into a tight little flower.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8K_QxSyXylFygjiMgePTkJhCqWqa3yrtr5aHLxaR_s0ierxnuS691XZioJce3b4d5iUxkenW3EAU2gptKqwpCT3FfydEtKg9v1JMJmjYQ28dY4XvxerNxUj_07wEcbzxBeWh5gq0Mhzc/s1600/IMG_3153.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8K_QxSyXylFygjiMgePTkJhCqWqa3yrtr5aHLxaR_s0ierxnuS691XZioJce3b4d5iUxkenW3EAU2gptKqwpCT3FfydEtKg9v1JMJmjYQ28dY4XvxerNxUj_07wEcbzxBeWh5gq0Mhzc/s320/IMG_3153.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6iQ_l6ED0uD2SVrFRQoHKvXaR36s5SKlKDkZnqV67alu7p-gFe7XQ9lxNCvvO2Q5F0T1bB7Ys81E1ASs8arnicnqYP4JVukXnWLg19l7UT8k8yAtvKz3XH6kYjHXKQT5DhOx2t51PIG8/s1600/IMG_3154.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6iQ_l6ED0uD2SVrFRQoHKvXaR36s5SKlKDkZnqV67alu7p-gFe7XQ9lxNCvvO2Q5F0T1bB7Ys81E1ASs8arnicnqYP4JVukXnWLg19l7UT8k8yAtvKz3XH6kYjHXKQT5DhOx2t51PIG8/s320/IMG_3154.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Repeat with each of the first 3 layers.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmtbzNQ47mZLlKO28NDSsQLIqux2N1_6zFdeVqQJRKoD5ClSU7QYdDdoEzjTIDTKROSqr6izQqkps_LqivJV1EX72OIhI_q3RVCNmQLfSD26zwfvBDA8UvlxAmIzkCEwgzYVxAgfDb3YE/s1600/IMG_3155.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmtbzNQ47mZLlKO28NDSsQLIqux2N1_6zFdeVqQJRKoD5ClSU7QYdDdoEzjTIDTKROSqr6izQqkps_LqivJV1EX72OIhI_q3RVCNmQLfSD26zwfvBDA8UvlxAmIzkCEwgzYVxAgfDb3YE/s320/IMG_3155.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Turn the stack over, and start from the other side, exactly as you did before. You'll end up with something that looks like this...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-ZgcAWZ9AaB6GiwXyTr8csNIajY7KRbgD7dzk3oE8qBHttLzsyxX-34hX0WhgILeAi4kIhNt-4CjiqgiPE0knZpcYA__X-nKGgVQlylgkmzEB7uUr0JYwQ5HGMXziBoWduefDMDPjVOs/s1600/IMG_3156.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-ZgcAWZ9AaB6GiwXyTr8csNIajY7KRbgD7dzk3oE8qBHttLzsyxX-34hX0WhgILeAi4kIhNt-4CjiqgiPE0knZpcYA__X-nKGgVQlylgkmzEB7uUr0JYwQ5HGMXziBoWduefDMDPjVOs/s320/IMG_3156.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Taking your remaining 6 doilies, repeat the process, until you've got two ruffly little pieces.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNGvATVCAjGqxOaFuDsVFiARsvWhHr9xVcXUvMbVXBh-Xt5GKiILiwdPdElGpU_qsG9gQnun2J_B9eJNur_qfu37_UpBPFpE2qIdFSL0iLgpePEeWMUt_5ii8860t08-NTAkA-gvxRNGw/s1600/IMG_3157.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNGvATVCAjGqxOaFuDsVFiARsvWhHr9xVcXUvMbVXBh-Xt5GKiILiwdPdElGpU_qsG9gQnun2J_B9eJNur_qfu37_UpBPFpE2qIdFSL0iLgpePEeWMUt_5ii8860t08-NTAkA-gvxRNGw/s320/IMG_3157.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Now, take a piece of string, and tie the two halves together through the centre. This string will be your hanging string too, so if you want to be all pretty, a piece of ribbon or coloured twine would be perfect.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSrg9d9DQIJIkYXnJQstmdqyv2_bq0BeuohPEDSMjS6QRr4pGkgMznaKG6OzjglW0MRS9ElKHnNDF76xM8i4es9LB5_2VSYibmf_KUB0n271f-Y80wBt1NqXF7bEr_p3d-s5bhozgl9OU/s1600/IMG_3158.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSrg9d9DQIJIkYXnJQstmdqyv2_bq0BeuohPEDSMjS6QRr4pGkgMznaKG6OzjglW0MRS9ElKHnNDF76xM8i4es9LB5_2VSYibmf_KUB0n271f-Y80wBt1NqXF7bEr_p3d-s5bhozgl9OU/s320/IMG_3158.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Finally, fluff the pom pom up with your fingers until you're happy with it!<br />
Now rest on your laurels while everyone else admires your fabulous doily pom poms!<br />
(forgive my dodgy background, I'm in a bit of a hurry tonight!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNWjh4eKjEvNvBc-evE48S9ZKh4Aa7QFyyRUfVzsiC0bEhjzn_UKUEakhu2Y_UWPKjOT7yreEgPp5ehexgKxnDfjFa4EhRz1oZL1aBrxmYquqet2uMR7cfInk4fzWX5YOnCQYcne6tm8s/s1600/IMG_3159.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNWjh4eKjEvNvBc-evE48S9ZKh4Aa7QFyyRUfVzsiC0bEhjzn_UKUEakhu2Y_UWPKjOT7yreEgPp5ehexgKxnDfjFa4EhRz1oZL1aBrxmYquqet2uMR7cfInk4fzWX5YOnCQYcne6tm8s/s320/IMG_3159.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
If you were making a larger one of these, you might consider using a few more layers if it doesn't look full enough.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5xVRl3aP0dX508A-rSkoxfR91sIzITAzgtcx_i59s0tU290hTmyQ1sOCdXjc_EO8QUN7mihMZMgZBgqN0sZ2mfhs7MO8mUblGDpuSe6nH179TlKpKmgWPO1elvf34od-kJSHlWcu1qTg/s1600/IMG_3161.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5xVRl3aP0dX508A-rSkoxfR91sIzITAzgtcx_i59s0tU290hTmyQ1sOCdXjc_EO8QUN7mihMZMgZBgqN0sZ2mfhs7MO8mUblGDpuSe6nH179TlKpKmgWPO1elvf34od-kJSHlWcu1qTg/s320/IMG_3161.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I sprayed mine with a little bit of pink glimmermist to add some shimmer, though you can't see it very well on the photos. In this last photo, the doilies are a bit damp - once it dries I will be able to fluff them up some more :) <br />
Happy making!<br />

She's mad about pigs, so I decided to make her a pig themed cake! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjl5NImHp9Pt3akavwJFEb2wAJdjlz5rQakFHAC6uiZ6uLLYpKw4jnBpfFOysxaEwEfCf0_eoiDZhtlIEXbn8udALRzkMSZuFYmDx7zlTurKTeq68b8gyUP7yyJlZ1YaHMrrVdkQstC5pI/s1600/IMG_3132.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjl5NImHp9Pt3akavwJFEb2wAJdjlz5rQakFHAC6uiZ6uLLYpKw4jnBpfFOysxaEwEfCf0_eoiDZhtlIEXbn8udALRzkMSZuFYmDx7zlTurKTeq68b8gyUP7yyJlZ1YaHMrrVdkQstC5pI/s320/IMG_3132.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
The cake was a chocolate cake, with a vanilla buttercream frosting. (and the mud is a chocolate buttercream). <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-YZE_jDa9gEte4nHfeFHhFCHLR4pzOkHklSS12YeSa_VFw-gJLIOTA7ExqDeB9pdDQ6DJGXDLEvD0W8WyHgTW2OJSN3Pli-nu3ePcB5NqyQbffclMLXOs_2vgn9boJkcD6c0VFeMuEKU/s1600/IMG_3116.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-YZE_jDa9gEte4nHfeFHhFCHLR4pzOkHklSS12YeSa_VFw-gJLIOTA7ExqDeB9pdDQ6DJGXDLEvD0W8WyHgTW2OJSN3Pli-nu3ePcB5NqyQbffclMLXOs_2vgn9boJkcD6c0VFeMuEKU/s320/IMG_3116.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I made the little piggies and ducks from fondant, which I coloured with food dyes and moulded by hand. It's so much fun, like playdoh for grown ups! :)<br />

I also made a stack of cupcakes, but forgot to take photos of them before the kids demolished them! (bad blogger!). Here's one that I caught before it disappeared into the birthday girl's tummy :) (It's missing one ear, and the photo's blurry, but I tried!) <br />

Hopefully I'll be back to regular posts by wednesday! And then I can reveal what I've been busy doing!<br />
Hope you're having a fabulous week!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8240228590596034913.post-34019761484711914012011-06-01T11:57:00.001+10:002011-06-01T11:57:35.651+10:00Bicycle fun!I created this layout using the new "Pink Gelato" range from Kaisercraft - The colours are very soft, and really lend themselves to shabby chic layouts. I haven't really done much in the way of shabby chic, but I was prepared to give it a red hot go!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjC1Vr9OaauDCOyFeyJJfjuxY5uT-PCBL3Fxb3LtUNfgW1ZyTjJ-VKFYRrmsRj8Qqk_UIhD2Q3hfPaUBjWi5vLM3_w9DLpz02HPSjd4ejbyp1tTGQbBRV56RuTd9jYRyH5omfg5usTQ8x0/s1600/IMG_3104.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjC1Vr9OaauDCOyFeyJJfjuxY5uT-PCBL3Fxb3LtUNfgW1ZyTjJ-VKFYRrmsRj8Qqk_UIhD2Q3hfPaUBjWi5vLM3_w9DLpz02HPSjd4ejbyp1tTGQbBRV56RuTd9jYRyH5omfg5usTQ8x0/s320/IMG_3104.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
To tie in with the bicycle paper, I chose photos of Gracie riding her big girl bike, and printed them off in different sizes. Sometimes with layouts it's better to use one big photo, and a couple of smaller photos that help support the "story", than just one big photo, or a cluster of big photos. Not always, but sometimes :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhusGPYT7-wvrkOpn8uKc47EruwMFAjWVfEnEYYDdd_ilHcPdwmEMVgjelQLvgPe_gDu309EFHoKaXpQR5mpNxOi2TUjDsf1I-lUh9-Fwv4GN6RACSacIYIKyHkjXMA3UhycDt1kQnFWDE/s1600/IMG_3106.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhusGPYT7-wvrkOpn8uKc47EruwMFAjWVfEnEYYDdd_ilHcPdwmEMVgjelQLvgPe_gDu309EFHoKaXpQR5mpNxOi2TUjDsf1I-lUh9-Fwv4GN6RACSacIYIKyHkjXMA3UhycDt1kQnFWDE/s320/IMG_3106.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I took some of hte blue spotty paper, and tore the edges to give it a rough look. I sprayed the edges with a little glimmermist, in Vintage Pink,, and splattere a little bit over the centre of the page, to add a bit of extra colour and to add to the feminine softness I was going for.<br />
Using my sewing machine, I machine stitched the blue paper to the bike paper, and added a ruffled strip of paper that I had torn from another sheet.<br />
I used the clear stamp from the clear stamp set to add a pretty purple bike to the bottom left hand corner, and used some kindyglitz and glossy accents to pep it up a little.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL5npaMlFt2slrbpk5kbg4m3s3FyUU4Vb496o0GV2wYzkd7ntEMHzroRWEfstS2SPY72TLQk3vv2OnLwsjC5_UBHHbXVrLmZjrk-BbauBaH-NU2fpzBbYqsiFkSOHrI2_sIekZxdENef4/s1600/IMG_3105.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL5npaMlFt2slrbpk5kbg4m3s3FyUU4Vb496o0GV2wYzkd7ntEMHzroRWEfstS2SPY72TLQk3vv2OnLwsjC5_UBHHbXVrLmZjrk-BbauBaH-NU2fpzBbYqsiFkSOHrI2_sIekZxdENef4/s320/IMG_3105.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I then cut a bajillion (no lie!) flowers from a patterned sheet of paper that came in the 6 1/2" paper pad, and layered these up with some of the printed chipboard, (using foam tape to add extra dimension). <br />
I finished the layout off with some Kaisercraft Paper Blooms (fuschia pack, with a little vintage pink and gold glimmermist to alter the colour of a few), a small rub on quote as the title, and some gorgeous sticky bling flourishes.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY4ovSrO8okINXTT5wt8TFRdCm2WWhaDRFsjT9GmZr8dHHsNhobNaTIj3ZDQAVv1gMdvyZgrLbAy_wyI3ln_eHKmO9K9HWgdfx6Q7DBpG7mETehdX30OzHKlBbT_SoXRSLHgk5c2yXE4A/s1600/IMG_3108.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY4ovSrO8okINXTT5wt8TFRdCm2WWhaDRFsjT9GmZr8dHHsNhobNaTIj3ZDQAVv1gMdvyZgrLbAy_wyI3ln_eHKmO9K9HWgdfx6Q7DBpG7mETehdX30OzHKlBbT_SoXRSLHgk5c2yXE4A/s320/IMG_3108.JPG" width="212" /></a></div>
Oh, and the journalling, I hid that in a tag that slips under the blue paper... I didn't decide till after I'd sewn it on that I wanted my journalling to go there, so I cut a tag sized slot under the raw edge (very carefully!), and stuck a piece of paper over the back to form a pocket, for the tag to slip into. Sorry about the photo, but I can't get the darn thing to rotate on here! :) <br />
I'm not sure that shabby chic is my style, but it sure was fun to have a play around with an unfamiliar style! It's good to mix it up sometimes! :)<br />
<i style="color: magenta;">x Rita</i>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8240228590596034913.post-19298509809062330862011-05-28T21:41:00.001+10:002011-05-29T09:57:45.098+10:00Stamping revisited!Sorry I've been neglecting you all, but when I say I'm flat out on this big project that I'm working on, I'm not lying! I'm hoping to have it all ready to go early this week, but in the meantime, I've had a bit of a muck around with a random idea that I've had, and struck gold! <br />
I'm sure lots of you are like me, in as much as that you've got a whole stash of fabulous stamps, that you never use enough.<br />
I'm a bit of a stamp hoarder, I fall in lust, then I HAVE to have them... so I've got quite a collection. I've often thought "oh, wouldn't that gorgeous stamp look great on a t-shirt!" So I've finally gotten around to having a shot at it... and guess what!!! It works!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4hN8JZTFqfScnkHRrcClAzysv_nDa1fLH1JcYtl1Zc8N8i2LWn98oaQ87JzDzeOEOiZ1vNCo_Ev-g4haNho5Srvg7m9SO9-xo9nHMZXS1zQRBOno_X_xqKl4AqLzJzEQA8l75sb60ee8/s1600/IMG_3060.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4hN8JZTFqfScnkHRrcClAzysv_nDa1fLH1JcYtl1Zc8N8i2LWn98oaQ87JzDzeOEOiZ1vNCo_Ev-g4haNho5Srvg7m9SO9-xo9nHMZXS1zQRBOno_X_xqKl4AqLzJzEQA8l75sb60ee8/s320/IMG_3060.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
If you're going to try this, you'll need a shirt (I just used one of Stephie's that had a few marks on it, I thought the design would hide the little stains a bit!), some stamps (and acrylic block) and an ink pad. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfrDONHg65CttJt9DXM-jhQYC9N_ow-Wp1gW5zcKm_yTFKCq4CxVTFi407Y_Xs68db8ZBvOAzSsQ3D_LGkwD88rYSyne4yXILKdG30vl6PDB3XdbqKCVGTv-FUq7TeADO_f4MfCVnmkeY/s1600/IMG_3061.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfrDONHg65CttJt9DXM-jhQYC9N_ow-Wp1gW5zcKm_yTFKCq4CxVTFi407Y_Xs68db8ZBvOAzSsQ3D_LGkwD88rYSyne4yXILKdG30vl6PDB3XdbqKCVGTv-FUq7TeADO_f4MfCVnmkeY/s320/IMG_3061.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
For this I used a permanent ink, I chose Ancient Page, but I'm sure StazOn or something similar would work well. I only have black, at the moment, but rest assured, I'll be NEEDING a rainbow of these inks soon!<br />
I popped a magazine inside the shirt to stop it bleeding through, and to give the stamp a firmer surface to work on.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1mvRN4eibwOTJGdkbrXn9FP0LJye959ohY3VkpHnlNJCvghDoYzMiSKETr7a_1TXcWYnHAe0lmql09s9ETCfk6ZrvcV3higYc29avxPwQTOiS4q-l9BlszJsYcf-hSq7riuk6PpDg-5g/s1600/IMG_3062.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1mvRN4eibwOTJGdkbrXn9FP0LJye959ohY3VkpHnlNJCvghDoYzMiSKETr7a_1TXcWYnHAe0lmql09s9ETCfk6ZrvcV3higYc29avxPwQTOiS4q-l9BlszJsYcf-hSq7riuk6PpDg-5g/s320/IMG_3062.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I chose my design, 2 butterflies and a flourish, and then stamped each section individually, making sure each time I stamped, I had an even cover of ink on the stamp. No going back with this type of ink!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsPvQ7OqiU34tYxQ8n8vcOus_LRt3CQa_feB3vVdmHgFN5FmZfsppYuVhsiri0GK8_euAHS0SevMzR9Jq7oikJYlaDXDFJEI1Kxc8R76vc_npMbwqcBkTRldU6k7B8ICcZNJg9E20FAO0/s1600/IMG_3065.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsPvQ7OqiU34tYxQ8n8vcOus_LRt3CQa_feB3vVdmHgFN5FmZfsppYuVhsiri0GK8_euAHS0SevMzR9Jq7oikJYlaDXDFJEI1Kxc8R76vc_npMbwqcBkTRldU6k7B8ICcZNJg9E20FAO0/s320/IMG_3065.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Once that was all done, I ironed the shirt (to heat set it - it didn't really need to be heat set, but I think better safe than sorry!) It's machine washable, ironable, and SO much prettier than just a plain old purple t-shirt! If you wanted to you could add some glittery fabric paint or whatever you like to it, but I like the simple print for this one.<br />
Now... what else can I stamp onto.... hehehe<br />
Hope you're having a great week!<br />
x Rita<br />

I just thought I'd add a photo of my little model showing off her nice new old t-shirt :) <br />

First of all, <a href="http://sewandthecity.blogspot.com/">Sew and the City</a> - Irina creates the most gorgeous little projects! Like me, she's fairly new to this blogging thing, so pop on over and say hi!<br />
<br />
You've been living under a rock if you haven't visited Darla over at <a href="http://www.mybakingdom.com/">Bakingdom</a> - every time I click on her blog, I swear I put on a kilo or three!<br />
<br />
For my daily belly laughs, I check out <a href="http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/">Cake Wrecks</a> - as the name implies - it's full of terrible cakes, that are made "professionally" :o The commentary is hilarous, and you'll get lost for weeks browsing through the archives!<br />
<br />
And finally (for today anyways), is<a href="http://lilaloa.blogspot.com/"> LilaLoa</a> - Georgeanne makes the most amazing, mind blowingly creative cookies! Like the other day, she made graduate cookies... using a goldfish cookie cutter. This girl has some serious creative talent! <br />
<br />Check them out - you won't be sorry!<br />

So when it comes to all the little bits and pieces of scraps that are accumulated through papercrafts, I try to use up what I can on smaller projects, like cards.<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYzUIdl7hCH4AZ80YhfmCuI8w9pGJPc_Tmu0RC0V0-FQPaG0lX_LioG-O8TohvmBSvgLv2bCjlqdqHXEwIG3psR0MYuYXyjGnLCEnFTFz6Jwo8ksmGFleVt-LzuvulCOGW8PZFqM_Fczk/s1600/IMG_2612.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYzUIdl7hCH4AZ80YhfmCuI8w9pGJPc_Tmu0RC0V0-FQPaG0lX_LioG-O8TohvmBSvgLv2bCjlqdqHXEwIG3psR0MYuYXyjGnLCEnFTFz6Jwo8ksmGFleVt-LzuvulCOGW8PZFqM_Fczk/s320/IMG_2612.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
This card was made entirely through scraps - I keep a tub handy and throw all my little bits and pieces in there, and when it comes time to whip up a card, my first port of call is my scraps bucket. <br />
With a little bit of paper piecing, and a leftover little bird from another project (I had cut out a stack of them, and had a few leftover - rather than binning them, I put them aside in ANOTHER container, specifically to use as card toppers!) . <br />
And when the scraps bucket gets a bit too full, I go and take a load of the offcuts to Gracie's kindy, where they are always very grateful for colourful bits and pieces of paper, fabric or ribbon!<br />
Oh.. and the giant jar of lollies behind it? Well that was a birthday present for a lucky friend! Yummo!<br />

My youngest daughter, Stephanie, has a major thing for the colour yellow. Doesn't matter what it is, if it's yellow, she loves it. And the way she points at anything yellow and shouts "YALLOW!" at the top of her lungs, it's almost too cute to stand. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimbYwQMG0nZdqkeGm3iXzn-TzMwf2B9fGZqEOyPPjpl0UmbIkB8j5cia-b3GoTi34ME4UReds5ecl04F7j5TPSPiyCexgPS3msqsEn_UfJ6gbcCtwD2tn40qoLxqagHp6pXmkci4XtA_s/s1600/IMG_3027.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimbYwQMG0nZdqkeGm3iXzn-TzMwf2B9fGZqEOyPPjpl0UmbIkB8j5cia-b3GoTi34ME4UReds5ecl04F7j5TPSPiyCexgPS3msqsEn_UfJ6gbcCtwD2tn40qoLxqagHp6pXmkci4XtA_s/s320/IMG_3027.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I used Echo Park papers from the "Little Girl" range to create this simple layout. I wanted to keep it clean and simple, but still bright and fun, so these papers were perfect! <br />
I loved the yellow base paper with white hearts on it (cupcake casey), as soon as I saw that paper I thought "OHHHH Stephie would just LOVE that!" The purple paper is called raspberry/purple, and gave a better contrast with the yellow than the raspberry on the other side. I cut a strip from the reverse of the Journaling Cards sheet, and layered that just below the photo - something about all those itty bitty hearts that I just loved! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7UK42fkq_lzbOqvJJ7EDXHg1JqPDm7Toq_ClfGE9RXce2QOoZFU_cggksgRzKET6HU0GY7JUB4L5JWYSVorJfUYck5f7oftq7DG349TwoWJJ_oMsRP8VxjoSiBLBH9F-ItiaAdCMT7_w/s1600/IMG_3028.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7UK42fkq_lzbOqvJJ7EDXHg1JqPDm7Toq_ClfGE9RXce2QOoZFU_cggksgRzKET6HU0GY7JUB4L5JWYSVorJfUYck5f7oftq7DG349TwoWJJ_oMsRP8VxjoSiBLBH9F-ItiaAdCMT7_w/s320/IMG_3028.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I cut a journal card from the page as well, and added a little bit of journalling. <br />
For the title, I used Bella Chipz letters in hot pink.<br />
This layout is so quick and simple, but makes me smile every time I look at it - I think it might be on display for a little while in our home! :)<br />
Perhaps I should do one in reply for Gracie, how she loves pink the best!<br />

It means a lot to me that you take time out of your day to check out what kinds of crafty mischief I've been up to. :)<br />
I'd also especially like to welsome all my overseas readers - it's a bit overwhelming (and exciting!) to see how far abroad my little blog has reached! <br />
So WELCOME! And I hope you enjoy my blog. I love each and every one of your comments, they really make my day! <br />
I started this blog partially as a challenge to myself, if you like, but most importantly, I decided to "give back " a little of the inspiration that I've gathered over the years from many other bloggers, and as I'm getting near the 4000 page views, it's starting to hit home that people like what I'm doing - and don't worry, I'm in no hurry to give it up! <br />
I hope you're having a lovely week, wherever in the world you are, and that you find a little gem of inspiration somewhere within my work! <br />
x Rita<br />
P.S. Leave a comment and tell me where you're from! I'd love to see where my readers hail from! :)<br />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8240228590596034913.post-72871397612027039052011-05-17T08:00:00.001+10:002011-05-17T08:00:01.010+10:00New prettiesI've been having a little play, and have decided to get making on some new hair accessories to sell. Two trends that I'm loving at the moment is the fabric rolled flowers, and felt flowers! These guys here are just the start of my obsession, I've got lots and lots more planned! <br />

And the plain hot pink one which conveniently matches the outfit that I'm planning on wearing today... :) </div>
Best of all, they'll be nice and cheap - I'm looking at $5 a clip, and will throw in a headband to clip them onto for an extra dollar! Even better - I can make them in any colour of the rainbow - your wish is my command! :P<br />
You can also choose to have them mounted on a bobby pin instead of a lined alligator clip. <br />
Which one's your favourite?<br />
